YouTube Playlist Duration Calculator

Find out how long a playlist takes to watch in total, and at faster playback speeds.

What this works out

It reads every video in the playlist, adds up the individual durations, and reports the total. It also shows what that total becomes at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x, since most people watching a long course playlist do not watch it at normal speed.

The count underneath tells you how many videos were included and the average length, which is often more informative than the total on its own.

Where to find the playlist link

Open the playlist and copy the URL from your address bar — it will contain list= followed by the playlist ID. You can also paste that ID on its own.

If you copy the link while a video is playing, it will include both v= and list=. That works fine; the video part is ignored.

Limits worth knowing

Private and deleted videos

Playlists commonly contain videos that have since been removed or made private. Those have no duration available, so they are skipped, and the tool tells you how many were skipped rather than quietly ignoring them. The real total may be slightly higher than what is shown.

Very large playlists

Calculation stops at 1,000 videos. Beyond that the request count becomes unreasonable, and if a playlist is capped you will be told.

Auto-generated playlists

Mixes and radio playlists — the ones YouTube builds on the fly, usually with IDs starting RD — do not have a fixed list of videos and cannot be calculated.

Frequently asked questions

Does it include Shorts?

Yes, if they are in the playlist. Their durations are counted the same as any other video.

Are ads counted?

No. The figure is the video content itself. Actual viewing time will be longer if ads play.

Can I calculate a private playlist?

No. Only public and unlisted playlists can be read.

Why does my total differ slightly from another site?

Usually because of how skipped videos are handled. Some tools silently drop unavailable videos without saying so, which produces a lower number with no explanation.
